This feeling is a bit sour. I was in this city during the spring days, just before the season. Cannot imagine how the beaches look like during the summer period while they have tourists! It must be paradise! Kavala’s beaches are famous by their clean water, I guess that there is no need to tell you that, the pictures can speak for itself.

Indeed, the shades of blue.

Would you like to join me and to dive into deep waters of Kavala?

My day started with this seagull, I truly believe that it is the same one who was on my balcony at the hotel.  I did enjoy his song, which you could hear on my Instagram stories. It’s peaceful at this time of the year.  BUT hey, we need to move on! The sea is calling… If you follow the coastline from the center, you can reach astonishing jewel of Kavala. I also recommend you to come by car or to rent one while being here. As I am informed, you can also use the public buses in order to reach one of those beaches ( the bus ticket is 1.60euros). In order to not give you wrong information, pass by tourist information kiosk and Kiki will be happy to help you. And remember, do not be lazy or afraid to ask, it will make your trip unforgettable!

During this trip, I have discovered one of the Greek gems! It is the most popular, 3 kilometers long sandy beach, located about 1km from Neos Peramos. It got its name by sand dunes, which is in Greek “Ammolofoi“. This beach is also awarded the European Blue Flag since 2006 for its clean waters.

Believe me when I say that this beach is for everyone. It is separated from rocks into three main beaches commonly referred to as first Ammolofoi, second Ammolofoi and third Ammolofoi. The first one, although a bit hard to find, is for the ones who like a less crowded and more open space beach. The second one, as I heard, has many bars with sun beds, umbrellas… Unfortunately, although it was sunny, I couldn’t catch the view to the Island of Thassos and the mountain of Athos in Halkidiki. So, dear Ammolofoi, I promise I’ll be back during the summer days for the view, swim, and Freddo espresso in one of the beach bars.

After a quick dip into these blue shades, the next beach was calling…

Just behind the rock, there is a completely new experience! My chicks got already red from the sun, so do not forget to bring the sun cream and hat with you. We couldn’t spend so much time here, but who wouldn’t like to be lost on this beach?

Again dreaming of me in the summer, at this place, sitting on this white stairs and posing with the glass of fresh lime juice. Anyone who would play guitar? The sky must be full of the stars! But hey, enough of dreaming, the reality is calling! Next stop – Nea Iraklitsa!

On the way back to the center of Kavala, I wanted to check Nea Iraklitsa. I have heard about it from many tourists but never had a chance to pay an actual visit. This place has a fully equipped marina so in the summer you can not throw a needle between the ships. At this moment, it was calm. I wanted to explore more, to run barefoot, and enjoy the sun and sound of the sea but… It’s time to move on!

As always, it would be a pity to finish this day and to not enjoy the Greek food. I guess that you already know that I adore eating. Who doesn’t? My hosts took me to Floisvos restaurant at Kavala which is few meters away from the cover picture in this post. It has a huge balcony and view to the horizon. I know, the best place for summer nights! Just imagine… the Greek music in the background, a glass of wine, mouth-watering food, and the smell of the sea.

Bon appetite guys! I truly believe that I will be back here. I fell in love with the city, its people, and the sea. Till the next post…
